I would like to start this review with a story. After all Dario's is a restaurant that I think is very close to my heart because it marks the beginning of a friendship. That friend turned out to be one of the closest person to me , here in pune. I went to Dario's for the first about a year ago and it was one of the first places I visited here in pune. My friend and I went there for lunch randomly and we really liked it. After which I came back to my college in an auto. The moment I stepped out of my auto a classmate of mine whom I really dint know at the time as it was the first or second day of college asked me where I was coming form. "Kp" I replied. She being her , All hyper as I will come to know later got excited that she has heard about Kp and really really want to go there.We there and then stepped into an auto and left for Kp. We literally exchanged our names on our way. I decided to take her to Dario's as i knew it was a good place. We went there, had a pleasant conversation , had scotch and left so we reach back before her hostel curfew. We did so much of small talk that somewhere between an awkward silence I just asked "Aur kya bolu mai!" As we ran out of conventional topics to talk about. She laughed like a crazy person as she could not believe I just said that.I went there with a stranger. Good things happen when you meet strangers.
You don't even know how a stranger can end up being the closest friend of yours.After all good friends were strangers once.
Now here is my exclusive review for Dario's.
Dario's is a restaurant in Sundarban resort in Lane number 1 of Koregaon Park famously abbreviated as 'Kp'. Its a pure vegetarian restaurant ,cafe and bar. All the breads ,pizza base are baked fresh in their custom made wood fire over. It is owned by Rebecca and Dario Dezio from where the restaurant gets its name. When u first walk in there you get a feeling of being in a very natural peaceful environment surrounded by trees and the yoga place ,spa and all. It has 2 seating areas . A indoor seating area and a outdoor cover areas. I prefer sitting in the outdoor are because of the touch of nature and the sexy Pune weather.
The service there seemed to be OK. The staff was quite lost. I had to repeat what I was saying 2-3 times to make them understand what I want.
Their menu is mainly Mediterranean and Italian.They have a variety of Salads , Pastas, Pizzas and Sandwiches.It has a dessert section with yummy tarts, pies and cakes.On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered 'Penne Sgambato' and 'Carduni Pizza' . Along with that I ordered 'Iced coffee'
Penne Sgambato is a pasta with bell peppers, Tomatoes, onion, cream and red chillies.When the waiter bought the dish you could smell all the Mediterranean vegetables. The sauce was Pink with tomatoes and cream and tasted very good. Bell peppers gave it a nice crunch.I really liked it .It was served with a bread basket with butter. Even the breads were freshly baked ,you could just tell with the look of it.
Carduni was a pizza made with fresh tomato sauce with mozzarella, artichokes, mushrooms, garlic,broccoli and sun-dried tomato.The pizza was not as good as the pasta. The combination of the toping made it sour and not perfect balanced.I like my pizza perfectly cooked.The base was thin and fresh.I really love places who take the effort to bake their own fresh breads and base.It would have been better if there had been more tomato sauce on the base.I would prefer ordering some other pizza next time and I know for sure they have much better pizzas.
Being brutally honest iced coffee was not that great at all.It tasted like the canned nestle coffee that you get at grocery store. I would highly recommend you not to order that.It was much bellow my expectations.
The pasta costed ₹530,The pizza costed ₹660
And the iced coffee costed ₹150 inclusive of all taxes.
Over all I would give it 3.5 stars on a scale of 5. If i would have not tasted the iced coffee I would have easily given it a 4 rating.
I would recommend you to come here for date. It looks so beautiful at night. Trust me when I say this
