Gong Modern Asian Restaurant
Gong is a modern asian restaurant scheduled to open today. Located in the very happening vicinity of the Balewadi high street , Baner, Pune , the very architecture of the place indicates that you are in for something very different.Typical Pan Asian Fine dining Restaurant with a modern touch of the chef. I was provided the opportunity to try out their tasting menu before the opening, and I am glad did because it was something that i would typically go out for.

Firstly the Architecture was spectacular.Service was amazing and staff of courteous. The restaurant has not even opened yet so we hope it remains this way when it does.
Gong is a restaurant that someone not used to of typical asian food might not like it so much but never the less we should always be open minded to new kinds cuisines and expand our taste palette. Even then you don't want to change your mind, no problem this place has amazing conventional pad Thai noodles and free rice to suit your palate.

All the dishes i tried was a part of the tasting menu pre decided by the chef. Their complete menu and prices has not been revealed yet. So we shall only talk about the thing that were served. The bar has not been open yet due to some legal problems and should be taken care of soon
Before serving food as a part of asian traditions the restaurant served us a bite portion of tofu and cranberry jelly in bed of basil.

The mocktails served were
The dragon fruit mocktail: Sweet and the best Mocktail out of the three
The guava mocktail: Sweet salty and spicy
Water melon mocktail: Chilled and refreshing after a hot day in Pune

As the part of Act one we were served Cream Cheese Sushi .It was a Vegetarian sushi with avocado, asparagus, cucumber, teriyaki and mayo.
They also served Shokunin Sushi which was filled with tuna, salmon, Unagi Sauce, Cream Cheese
It was a perfectly made sushi, but personally not a big fan of sushi and people who are used to sushi would have loved it

In comes the Act two. Crispy vegetable cheung fun, Crispy prawn cheung fun. Now this is something this restaurant should be known for. Specially the crispy drawn cheung fun. One of the best asian thing i have eaten. They also served Asian cottage cheese ravioli. This is something i personally like like about modern cooking. Mixing two different regional food to make something beautiful. Italian ravioli in a asian style sauce. Very different, must try for people who love spicy stuff. The fourth dish in the act four was the chicken asian rice pearls which was basically a chicken dim sum covered in rice. Not something i would specially oder again very honestly .All these dishes were served with different dips.

As a part of Act three we were served the Pickled pepper chicken with oyster sauce. It tasted like chill chicken ,so people who don't like pan asian of for this you will surely like this.
The best dish of the day was the Vietnamese Fish Parma fingers. You had to wrap the fish finger in the iced lettuce and fill it with Parmesan cheese soya sauce, spicy mayo, teriyaki and salad. The best dish of the day, something you must try and its very different.
Next was the oriental BBQ lamb chops, nothing different . Something for the lamb lovers out there

The Act Four was the Eight Treasure soup. Basically a Clear chicken soup with Vegetables. Hot and sour. Quite healthy soup.

Act Five was the main course They Served the King prawn red curry with truffle fried rice ,honey duck and pad Thai noodles. The rice and noodles was something you get everywhere nothing special there. The prawn were good and had a sauce similar to the ravioli. If you can eat the duck go for it.

Act Six was the desserts which was amazing. They served us Dark chocolate mousse. It was Tempted chocolate rolled stuffed with chocolate mousse served with fruity sauce and chocolate crumbs. Death by chocolate is the right word. we wanted more of this but sadly they were out of it. They Also served the Baked Mango cheese cake which was super rich and creamy .

I would rate it a 4 on a scale of 5
Overall the food was great and different. We all should try different food. Make a post to try something new. Ek zindagi hai.Opening Today Gong do try it.
